At the Diane Hutt Gallery we are very proud to display art by Sam Toft. Her main characters, Ernest Hemingway Mustard and his wife Violet Mustard, along with their eccentric pets and other characters are just delightful. Certainly, Sam’s narrative paintings are quirky, fun and always beautifully composed. Using the colours she works with, her prints never fail to bring a smile.

Coming from Brighton, Sam Toft often likes Ernest and Violet to visit the beach, but they still appear in many other places! She has put great thought into the titles of her pictures and there is plenty of humour with all of her characters. The detail in the quirky and mystical days out, all show her work as individual and very unique.

Sam Toft prints feature her well-loved characters, always busy, always doing something and rarely on their own.
